The Cathedral Youth Church

What We Offer

Hallmarks of Growth

THE Youth Church was commissioned by the Lord Bishop of the Diocese of Lagos West, The Rt. Rev. Dr. P .A. Adebiyi with an inaugural service on November 17, 2002.

According to him, the desire to create a conducive environment for the youth who came to church but roamed about aimlessly during service was a factor in setting up the Youth Church.

The then Dean (now Bishop of Kwara Diocese), The Rt. Rev. Dr. Segun Adeyemi inaugurated the chapel (as it was then known) and preached the first sermon there. Before then, the youth met every Saturday as the Parish Youth Fellowship.

The then Rev. (now The Ven.) Kelvin Tope-Tapere was the priest in charge of the Youth Chapel before the appointment of the Youth Chaplain.

The following are the names of the Youth Chaplains of the Cathedral Youth Church since inception:

The Ven. (then The Rev.) Gbenga Akinbola               2004 —2007
