TOPIC:THREAT TO CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP: IMMORALITY – 2
TEXT: Numbers 25:1-9
AIMS:
INTRODUCTION
There is nothing as bad as attributing God’s glory to something else, God is a jealous God and can do anything to gain His glory, to the extent of wiping away nations that will not give Him honour due to Him.
The nation of Israel that God performed many uncommon miracles and plagued their enemy (Egyptians) for them to gain their liberty were found being plague in our choice of text today. They play harlot with the daughters of Moab, they even went ahead to worship their gods, they were so yoked to this strange behaviour and worship of Baal of Peor to the extent that, eating and drinking what was sacrificed to idol was no longer a sin, one of them was even bold enough to have brought into his family, a Midianite woman publicly.
The nation that was seen being feared by other nations became nothing, what they once condemned became their best habit and of course, those concerned would have something to say to defend their lewdness. Immortality can bring down the wall of protection over any generation of believers, the best is to stay away from it, hence, Christian fellowship may become a thing of reproach.
DISCUSSION
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Everything in life is an investment, our actions are like seeds sown, expecting to yield increase. Depending on the category of what you sow, harvest shall be greater. Have you derived joy in sowing immorality and alluding God’s glory to something else? You are advised to desist now; the repercussion might be too heavy for you to bear.
