LAYREADERS ADMONISHED ON TRUE DEDICATION TO WORK OF GOD.
Lay readers in the Diocese of Lagos West, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, have been admonished to resolve to trust God absolutely, renew their commitment to commune with God daily in prayers and towards the expansion of God’s kingdom.
This admonision came from the Ven.Ebenezer Adewole, Dean of the Cathedral, during the rededication service for Lay readers held on Sunday at Archbishop Vining Memorial Church Cathedral, Ikeja,Lagos on Sunday 6th February, 2022. The event was presided by the Diocesan, The Rt Revd Dr Olusola Odedeji.
Speaking on the theme; The place of rededication in the service of God, the Venerable Adewole noted that believers are saved to serve, and are ordained for service and to propagate the gospel.
He maintained that in the course of service, people make mistakes, commit errors and weakness occurs , hence the need for rededication from time to time in order to renew their commitment to God and consecrate themselves to the service of God wholeheartedly.
According to him, rededication is not meant for arrogant, ego minded and self- centered servants but people with tender and humble hearts.
He encouraged the lay readers not only to be the reader of the word, but they should also digest the word and apply it to their daily living.
The rededication service had in attendance, the Chaplain of the Diocesan Lay Readers, the Ven. Adefoluke dignitaries from the diocese and over six hundred lay readers across the Diocese.
Other side attractions include; blessing of the instruments presented to the church, introduction of the new president and presentation of award to outgoing executive members of the group.
