INTRODUCTION:
The parable of the talents shows a man travelling to a far country and gives five, two and one talents to his servants. He gave them according to their abilities.
The servants that was given five talents was faithful with his talents and gained five more. The servant that was given two talents was faithful with his talents and gained two more. The servant that was given one talent was afraid and did nothing with his talent.
The servant that was given one talent would have messed up if given five talents. The servant given five or two talents would have performed if given one talent. The issue is not the quantity of talents given but the individual’s response to the talents given.
DISCUSSION
Matthew 25:21
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Regardless of the talents given (either five, two or one talents), the reward system is based on faithfulness to what was committed to the servants. You might be a cleaner, captain of industry, gateman, president, governor, etc. what count is not the office you occupybut faithfulness to your duty. If you are a cleaner, do it well. If you are a president, do it well! if you are a father, do it well. If you are a wife, be a good wife. Bottom line is do your duty well.
In heaven, God is not going to reward us based on our status (clergyman, stewards, altar server, cleaner, PCC member, etc.) but on how faithful we handle His tasks.
