BISHOP JAMES ODEDEJI RECEIVED RWANDAN PRIMATE AND GAFCON CHAIRMAN WITH OTHER BISHOPS ON VISIT

The Primate of Church of Rwanda (Anglican Communion), the Chairman of GAFCON, and the Bishop of Gasabo, His Grace, The Most Revd Dr. Laurent Mbanda with His Wife Chantal and 7 other Bishops of Rwanda and their Wives visited Lagos West Diocese on Thursday July 25, 2024 while on tour to some choice areas in Nigeria.

According to the Diocesan Bishop, the Rt. Revd. Dr. James Olusola Odedeji, “they visited Lagos West Diocese to see the good work the Lord is doing and to pray with us, being the fastest growing Diocese in Nigeria and Africa”.

They were warmly received by the Diocesan with His amiable Wife, Mama Lagos West, Dr. Mrs. Lydia Odedeji, some Clergymen and their Wives with drumming, singing and dancing by the Christian Mothers of the Diocese of Lagos West at Archbishop Vining Memorial Church Cathedral, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos.

The Rwandan Primate visited the re-construction site of the Cathedral and prayed for God’s provision, speedy completion of the project and protection for the site workers. He then proceeded to the Tent Cathedral where formal introductions were made while addressing everyone.

The GAFCON Chairman and His entourage were later led to the new Bishopscourt at Oduduwa Crescent, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos State. They were also welcomed and were led to the Chapel of His Glory in the Bishopscourt, where He prayed for the entire Diocese.

The visit ended with refreshment in the Bishopscourt.

The Primate of Rwanda and His entourage had been in Nigeria for some days and had visited some choice Christian historical places such as Abeokuta, Christ Church Cathedral, Lagos and Badagry etc

It is our prayer that they have a fulfilling tour in our beautiful nation Nigeria.

The other Bishops on tour with the Primate were, Rt. Revd Dr. Jered Kalinba, Fluyogwa Diocese, Rt. Revd Augustine Ahinana of Kivu Diocese, Rt. Revd Amooti Rusengo of Kigali Diocese , Rt. Revd Emmanuel Ntozinda of Kibungo Diocese, Rt. Revd Methode Rukundo of Karongi Diocese, Rt. Revd Christopher Nshimiyimana of Bukare Diocese, Rt. Revd Vincent Habimfura of Nyanguru Diocese.

Archbishop Laurent Mbanda was born on 25th of October 1954. He was elected the fourth Archbishop and Primate of the Province of the Anglican Church of Rwanda on 17 January 2018 and enthroned on 10 June 2018.
