DATE: Sunday 16th July 2023

TOPIC: Christian fellowship- UNITY

TEXT: John 17:21, Psalm 133:1-6

AIM

  1. To teach that that binds Christians together is more powerful than our denominational differences that needless tear us apart
  2. To teach that we archive more when we are united despite our differences

INTRODUCTION:

Jesus had several disciples with diverse backgrounds. They were men of various characters. Some were fishermen, tax collectors, etc. The longest prayer by Christ that was recorded in the bible is more about the unity with one another. There will always be individual differences, there will always be denominational differences. But Christ and the church will never be divided.

Christian unity is non-negotiable if the kingdom of God is to spread and gain ground in an environment. Christian maturity leads to Christian unity. Paul instructs us to “make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace” (Ephesians 4:3).

DISCUSSION

  1. According to Psalm 133:3, what is the benefit of being united? Answer-God commands His blessings, Mention others (Promotes teamwork, cooperation and development, brings mutual understanding and respect, shared goals, peaceful  conflicts resolution, Supports and strengthens relationships, Promotes stability, build trust and confidence) with relevant bible passages !
  2. How do we bury our differences? Ephesians 4:2,1 Corinthians 3:3-7, Ephesians 4:31-32 – Make Christ the center !
  3. How to we attain Christian unity? Ephesians 4:3, 14-15, – No longer children but grow up in Christ!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

When Christians are divided, they are at a loss. When Christians are united, they go FAST and FAR

MEMORY VERSE: Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
